Why should I use corks? Will they perform like other closures?
Corks are a long-proven excellent closure for wines, and the only closure available that combines inert sensory characteristics, with superior sealing ability over time, and environmentally friendly.

If you use corks from cork producers with well proven past records, like Vinocor, you will undoubtedly use the best performing closure available to the wine industry,

And why should I use Vinocor corks?
Because Vinocor is the only cork producer than can guarantee that 100% of all its corks are processed using the most advanced technologies currently available, like the XTRAX Boiling System. Vinocor is the only cork company that can supply you consistently year round with the most inert corks available in the market.

Does the raw bark used by Vinocor come from your own cork forests?
We own 2,000 hectares (approximately 5,000 acres) of cork forests, and in 2004 they were enough to supply around 6% of the 12,500 tons of raw bark we processed. Because we can only harvest a cork tree every 9 or 10 years, it would be almost impossible to own enough cork forest to fill all our needs.

Vinocor employs a team of technicians who inspect forests and pull bark samples year round. Together with the Quality Control department to test the referred samples, and issue QC and Procurement recommendations. Based on these recommendations Vinocor purchase its raw materials even before harvest begin, assuring a well balanced quality/value supply of raw material.

How long should I store my corks before using them?
You should treat your corks like a perishable good. We package your corks in high density poly bags, blanketed with Sulfur Dioxide. If you store your corks in the closed bags, in a dry and clean environment where temperatures do not constantly go higher than 80F, you can confidently use your corks for a period up to 6 months after we ship them to you. If you open a bag, but you don’t use all the corks in it, the bag should be resealed with SO2.

What is your supply capacity in the US? Can we visit your facility?
Vinocor North-American subsidiary is located in Napa, California, with a fully capable storage, processing and quality control facility. We currently can process 650,000 corks per 8 hour shift, and answering the growing demand for Vinocor corks, we are currently increasing this capacity to be able to process 1 million corks per shift, within the next 6 months. If you would like to tour our facility please call us to 707-259-1529.
